Today i find out another trick on Lotus Notes 8. If you are using Lotus Sametime for Insant Messaging you might be uncomfortable with Lotus Sametime windows will be pop-up while any of your friend sending a message to you. By default by Lotus IBM Sametime.
Here the simple trick to disable or turning off the Lotus Sametime Windows Popup.
1) Click on File –> Go to Preferences (follow as below)
2) Preferences Windows will be come out. Then click on Notification.

3) Then Click on One-on-one Chat on Event Option

4) By Default, system will check on box “Bring chat windows to front”. To disable Lotus Sametime Popup, uncheck the box “Bring chat windows to front”
5) Click on Apply Button and click OK button to finish.
Now setup is done. You will never get Lotus Sametime Windows Popup again.

thank you for posting this, i looked everywhere and couldn’t find out how to disable this.
I’m just sharing an information on Lotus Notes. Cause i’m using Lotus Notes. It will more Lotus Notes tricks will be coming.
Yes, you are right… but like this, you will just turn off just that the sametime chat windows will not come into front anymore… … but it will still pop-up (when you hide all your opened windows)…
Is it possible to turn off also this?
Thanx and have a nice day

Yes. It just blinking on your task bar only.
Thank you sooooo much for posying this. I was looking everywhere and the pop up was very irritating as it cuts me off while typing a mail or chatting with someone else. Many thanks again for posting this

Maybe you are using older browser. It recommended using Mozila Firefox or Google Chrome.

Sure Jana.
I want to disable the scrollbar on sametime chat box so when I send an IM it will wrap the text rather then have it continue on the same line making me scroll back and forth to read longer IM’s.
Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

God Bless You!! I have been dealing with this bloody issue for 2 weeks now, and am about to throw my computer out the window. Lotus shouldn’t even have “pop up” as an option! Lisa A.
We start a group chat every day and it always flashes on the toolbar when someone enters or leaves the chat. It’s really annoying. I have looked for ways to turn off this notification of people entering or leaving the chat but cannot find anything out there. Are you aware of how to do this?
THANKS!
it worked… thanks!!!
