Last week i receive one report from my user that not able to open on drawing file. This drawing is using .dwg extension. And the file created from DraftSight Software. Draftsight is one of free drawing software. You can found it on Internet. Capable to created, amend or edit any .dwg file for free. So we can save a lot of cost.
One of my user have a problem to open up the .dwg file from DraftSight software to AutoCAD 2009. This is make me hurry to find the solution ASAP. Is it the DraftSight software is not compatible with AUTOCAD ? Or is the .dwg extension from Draftsight ar not anble to open on AUTOCAD. ?
It get me wrong. It just the version issue. The DraftSight with 2010 version. So it make the latest .dwg extension on the file name. So it must open to any latest than 2010 version of DraftSight or AUTOCAD. I thougt the solution is done. But how do i convert the .dwg DraftSight 201 to older version. And able to read to Older AUTOCAD version like 2007 or 2009.
Here is the solution :
1) Download DWG TrueView 2012 from here. DWG TRUEVIEW is one free software by Autodesk. It able any dwg file up to 2012 version. It also working any dwg file from DraftSight.
2) Download and install the Latest Microsoft .NET 4.0 before installing DWG TrueView 2012. Download it from here.
3) Open up the DWG TrueView 2012. Then click on DWG Convert from the menu bar.
4) One popup windows will be come out .Click on the Open Button as below. Browse the .dwg file that you want to convert.
5) Then choose the version on conversion setup.
6) Click on the convert button to complete. System willl ask you to save the .dwg file version on your computer. Then please try open the .dwg file after the conversion. Example : If you choose the 2007 version, try open the file to AUTOCAD 2007 and above.
