Today i got one task. One user ask me to change his keyboard. He do not like to use English Keyboard. He would like to use French Keyboard type. So he asking me to change. His laptop is Latitude E6420. Brand new type of laptop. And i never swap any keyboard for this model. Totally different with other Latitude model. I’m only got one website show guide to change the Latitude E6420. Thanks to Dell Support Page.
So below is the step how to change latitude e6420 keyboard.
1) Remove your laptop battery. (Slide the battery out of the computer and remove it.)
2) Remove the secure keyboard screw from the bottom of E6420
3) Remove the keyboard trim. It should be orange color nearing your keyboard. (Using a plastic scribe, pry the keyboard trim from the top edge to release it from the computer.)
4) Remove 4 keyboard screw as shown below.
5) Then flip the keyboard out from the casing.
6)Disconnect the keyboard cable.
7)Before fix with new keyboard. Take the old keyboard cable from your previous keyboard.
- Disconnect and remove the keyboard cable from the keyboard.
The put the keyboard cable to new keyboard. And assemble the new keyboard to your laptop.
